Deputy Curriculum Manager for Engineering and Construction

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £41,992 per annum + benefits

The Role

They are seeking a dynamic and proactive Deputy Curriculum Manager for Engineering and Construction to support their Curriculum Manager in ensuring the delivery of exceptional teaching, learning, and assessment within this vital curriculum area. You will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards and driving forward their commitment to providing an outstanding learning experience for all their students.

As Deputy Curriculum Manager, you will lead on quality assurance processes and work closely with the Curriculum Manager on the day-to-day operational management of their staff and the Engineering and Construction curriculum. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement and ensuring their programmes meet the evolving needs of learners, local employers, and awarding organisations.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Curriculum Development
  • Lead and oversee internal quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with awarding organisation standards.
  • Collaborate with the professional practice team to monitor and enhance teaching, learning, and assessment quality, providing support and feedback to staff.
  • Ensure robust internal verification and assessment practices across all programmes.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, including schemes of work and assessment strategies.
  • Analyze learner data to identify trends and implement actions to improve success rates.
  • Support the implementation of vocational qualifications like T-Levels and apprenticeships.
Operational Management & Staff Development
  • Assist in the daily operations of the department, including timetabling and resource management.
  • Line manage and support teaching staff through performance reviews, mentoring, and CPD opportunities.
  • Participate in recruitment, induction, and staff retention activities.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed in all practical environments.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders and industry partners.
Learner Experience & Employer Engagement
  • Promote a positive learning environment that enhances learner satisfaction and progression.
  • Develop partnerships with local employers to increase work experience opportunities.
  • Support an inclusive environment that meets diverse learner needs.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in curriculum leadership, teaching, and IQA processes.
  • Leadership experience within engineering and construction is advantageous.
  • Industry background in engineering preferred; all applications considered.
  • Full teaching qualification, recent CPD, vocational Level 3 qualification in Engineering or Construction, and Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • Willingness to work towards or hold an IQA award.
