An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Interventional Radiology CNS team as a Deputy Clinical Nurse Specialist.

We seek a highly motivated nurse to be part of a multidisciplinary team, offering opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in this specialty.

We treat adults and children across three sites.

Main duties of the job:

The successful candidate will be involved with outpatient clinics, virtual clinics, pre-assessment, MDT clinics, and assisting with complex discharges, bleep holding, and scheduling lists.

They will serve as an expert resource for other healthcare professionals and must be capable of delivering health promotion and education.

Working for our organisation:

The Lifelong IR service is a specialist Interventional Radiology network hosted by Evelina London Children's Hospital and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The network covers London, South East, and East of England.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

This role offers development opportunities to learn the role of a clinical nurse specialist in Interventional Radiology. The successful candidate will be assigned a mentor and supported to achieve the required competencies.

The role involves good communication skills, specialist knowledge in cardiology, advocating for patients, and working within a large MDT.

Person specification:

Skills:

  • Good communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information, including distressed relatives and challenging situations.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist patient care and provide relevant advice and information.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues within the specialty.
  • Demonstrates specialist expertise supported by theory.

Experience:

  • Previous post-registration experience in the relevant specialty.
  • Experience in teaching, assessing, and supervising others in clinical settings.
  • Competent in managing patients within the specialty.

Qualifications and Professional/Statutory Registration:

  • BSc/First degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification with experience.
  • Post-registration specialist course relevant to the area.
  • Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge, supported by specialist training and CPD.
  • RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register.
  • Leadership Course.
