Overview

Are you an experienced shift leader within a Children s home and want to develop within an Outstanding Ofsted rated environment?

Join an Outstanding Ofsted rated, 6 Bedded SEMH Children s Home that has second-to-none outcomes for young people. This home is in the rural village of Wombourne on a large 5.5-acre plot and houses four young people aged 13-17, with a therapy-dog in training. The organisation is family-run and led by an experienced Clinical Psychologist with expertise in trauma, neglect, and neurodiversity. Leaders and managers have been praised by Ofsted for inspirational, ambitious, child-focused leadership.

The role is Deputy Children s Home Manager, within a 6 bedded EBD home that uses a therapeutic PACE approach.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Registered Manager to operate the home to an excellent standard, adhering to Ofsted s Children s Home Act (2015), Quality Standards, and Safeguarding Procedures
  • Manage a staff team, conduct supervisions and appraisals, and ensure trainings are completed in line with Quality Standards
  • Develop and review Ofsted-required paperwork such as care plans, behaviour support plans, risk assessments, and regulated reports; attend and engage in LAC, EHCP, PEP and Pathway Planning meetings and reviews
  • Communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, families, and external professionals
  • Conduct administrative tasks such as health and safety checks, medication audits, rotas, finances, recruitment activities and inductions
  • Act on-call responsibilities to provide expert advice in out-of-hour crises
Requirements
  • 2+ years experience leading a team specifically within a children s home environment
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
  • Flexibility to carry out the shift pattern described, including sleep-ins and on-call responsibilities
  • A genuine passion for supporting the well-being and healthy development of young people and staff

Any successful candidates will, as per Safer Recruitment guidelines, undergo an enhanced DBS check, references, and an employment history verification.

Package & Benefits
  • Basic pay: £17-18 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus £66.55 per sleep-in
  • Estimated package: up to £41,272 per annum based on 8 sleep-ins per month
  • Enhanced Overtime Rate: +£2 per hour after 12 shifts
