Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced acute operational manager to be part of our senior leadership team and to be a key part of our future. You would be able to bring skills and experience in operational delivery, able to problem solve in partnership with divisional teams, able to bring innovative solutions to the operational challenges of flow, capacity, waiting times, patient safety and delivery against our financial agenda. Compassion and collaboration are pivotal qualities, along with a track record of delivery and supporting teams to deliver.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO) will be required to work across the full dimension of the Chief Operating Officer's portfolio, covering urgent and elective care, constitutional standards, productivity, safety and day-to-day oversight of the operational delivery. The post holder will have direct responsibility for leadership of site flow and complex discharge teams overseeing site capacity and flow, as well as a broad range of agendas across elective care supporting triumvirate teams in their delivery.

The DCOO will also directly support our Emergency Planning and Response and will be required to lead across divisions, linking teams inside and across the health community to ensure delivery of care for our patients without delay. The post holder will be expected to work on behalf of and in partnership with the Deputy COO, deputising both internally and externally as required.
