Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Deputy Chief Nurse (DCN) to support the Chief Nurse and lead a dedicated nursing team. The role of the Deputy Chief Nurse is to provide support to theChief Nurse (CN) across the large CNportfolio, being an active member of the senior NMAHP team. The post holderwill have significant knowledge and experience in implementing and supportinga NMAHP strategy as well as in issues relating to quality, patient safety,safeguarding and workforce development. The post holder will be required towork in partnership to manage and develop further Trustwide systems andprocesses to provide assurance of quality and safe service delivery andappropriate risk management, working alongside the site based and ClinicalService Unit teams. Together with theCN they will lead the development and implementation of quality initiativesto improve patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. In realising thisambition, the DCN will ensure that there are structures in place to supportthe engagement of clinical staff across the organisation to deliver effectiveand efficient services to our patients. They will develop a culture thatencourages excellence in clinical practice, facilitates team working andmulti professional care delivery.
Todeputise for the CN across all areas of the portfolio as and when required,providing expert leadership, knowledge, and advice to all areas of theportfolio. Working closely with the CN, Deputy Peers (Deputy Chief Nurses),Director of Midwifery, Director of Quality and Heads of Nursing, the postholder will be pivotal in ensuring the provision of an effective,highquality nursing service and will advise on nursing standards and practicewithin available resources, taking full regard of all professional views andfacilitating the development of clinical strategies that ensure the Trustscontinued success.The DCN will work with the CN and wider Nursing, Midwiferyand Allied Health Professional Leadership team to lead the nursing,midwifery,and Allied Health Professional workforce to aspire towardsexcellence through developing and valuing our talented nursing workforce.TheDCN will work within a team of Deputy Chief Nurses either leading on orsupporting the delivery of a number of portfolios including, safer staffing,Education and Development, Quality Standards, Harm Free Care, IPC, NMAHPstrategy,Patient Experience,and regulatory and professional bodycompliance.The DCN will support the delivery of our strategic Qualityobjectives, supported by our values which set the standards of behaviour forall staff, actively promoting a culture aligned to our values.The DCN willwork with the Deputy Director of Operations and Deputy Medical Director ofOperations

Workingto the Chief Nurse (CN), the postholder will deputise across a range ofprofessional duties and provide leadership to the nursing workforce acrossthe organisation. Working closely with the CN and fellow Deputy Chief Nurses,support the delivery of highest quality standards, supporting the strategicdirection for (Nursing, Midwifery and AHP) NMAHP within the Trust, acrosscorporate NMAHP functions with professional support to our clinical serviceunits.
Thepost holder will be pivotal in ensuring the provision of an effective, highquality nursing service and will advise on nursing standards and practicewithin available resources, taking full regard of all professional views andfacilitating the development of clinical strategies that ensure the Trustscontinued success. The postholder will contribute to the strategic planningfor professional standards and will ensure that service objectives areimplemented through NMAHP with demonstrable continuous improvement instandards of patient care.
