Job summary

Stretton Hall Nursing Home is seeking a Deputy Chef to assist in preparing and cooking meals for residents and to cover holidays for the Head Chef. The role includes following menus, training junior staff, and upholding health and safety standards in a healthcare kitchen.

It is a full-time position with 30 hours per week, including a weekend rota. Experience in a care setting is helpful but not essential; the successful candidate will be supported to attain NVQ Level 2 in Catering.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Catering or willingness to work towards.
• Experience in health care settings is not essential but advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and cooking following Head Chef menus.
• Follow Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire Procedures and Lifting and Handling policies.
• Supervise and help train junior catering staff.
• Ensure proper labeling and storage of food.
• Assist kitchen staff with washing up and cleaning of appliances and surfaces.
