Job summary

Flexzo Teach in Didcot, Oxfordshire, is looking for a Deputy/Assistant Headteacher to lead daily operations in a growing alternative provision serving pupils with SEMH and behavioral needs.

You will drive curriculum and pastoral leadership, oversee staff rotas and performance, build strong links with parents and external agencies, and thrive in a fast-paced startup-style environment.

Qualifications

• QTS or demonstrated leadership within SEMH or AP is required.
• Proven background in curriculum or pastoral leadership with strong organizational skills.
• Team Teach training (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
• Track record in pastoral support for SEMH challenges and complex behaviors.
• Strong operational leadership to manage daily site routines and staff.

What You Need

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or demonstrated leadership experience within an SEMH or Alternative Provision (AP) setting is required.
• Proven background in curriculum or pastoral leadership, with strong organizational skills to manage staff performance, daily rotas, and behavior management systems.
• Team Teach training (or equivalent positive behavior management training) is highly preferred.
• Track record in pastoral support, with skills in guiding young people facing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges and complex behaviors.
• Strong operational leadership to manage daily site routines, oversee staff, and work effectively alongside parents, external multi-agency networks, and local authorities.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-style environment where processes are evolving, bringing the vision and adaptability needed to build effective systems.
• A valid right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
