Job summary

The London Borough of Bexley is seeking a Deputy Area Team Manager to support day-to-day supervision of a planning team and oversee a portfolio of large-scale, complex planning applications. You will thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment focused on growth and town centre regeneration.

Ideal candidates will have strong planning qualifications, RTPI eligibility, and substantial Development Management experience, with a track record of mentoring officers and delivering high-quality decisions.

About The Role

This is an exciting time for the London Borough of Bexley as we are at the heart of a regeneration and change as London moves east. We are currently looking to attract an ambitious Deputy Area Team Manager capable of assisting in the day-to-day management of a team of planning officer s as well as leading on a caseload of large scale and complex planning applications. The ideal candidate will have relevant Planning qualifications and eligibility for membership of the RTPI. We are looking for an individual with substantial experience of working within Development Management and dealing with large scale complex schemes as well as some experience leading and mentoring officers and determining applications. You will be ambitious for new opportunities and want to work as part of a ‘platinum’ performing, dynamic and friendly team to meet the Borough’s growth ambitions. This role is key for the delivery of the Council’s strategic corporate priorities.
