Job description

Location: Dyce Academy, Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership:

Please note that from 1 April 2023, roles requiring PVG membership will require candidates to cover the cost. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above (e.g., teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above, currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour).

The Council will initially pay for the PVG membership cost—£18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non-members—and this amount will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.

About the Role:

To assist and, where necessary, deputise for the Head Teacher in managing the affairs of the school to benefit pupils, staff, and the community, by pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by Aberdeen City Council in accordance with current legislation and SNCT agreements.

Minimum Requirements:

Full GTC (Scotland) Registration in the relevant sector.

Demonstrable Skills and Abilities:
  • Provide leadership, good management, and strategic direction in the school's areas of work.
  • Promote high standards through professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting continuous professional development of colleagues.
  • Take responsibility for curriculum development, learning, teaching, and meeting learners’ needs.
  • Contribute to improvement planning and quality assurance.
  • Work in partnership with parents, professionals, agencies, and other schools.
