Job summary

Great Western Railway Depot Operations is seeking a depot-focused role to oversee the safe movement of trains within the depot and to coordinate with NRMI and external authorities. The role emphasizes maintaining safe working environments and responding to the Shift Production Manager to ensure service delivery.

You will plan possessions for depot infrastructure repairs, manage train crew movements, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Directly report to the Depot Operations Manager and ensure safe movement of trains.
• Comply with Great Western Safety Standards at all times.
• Ensure personal safety and that of others in all duties.
• Report hazards or unsafe practices using the prescribed process.
• Coordinate with external authorities and emergency services on operational matters.
• Plan and control possessions for infrastructure repairs and report progress.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with planning, controlling and reporting on the movement of trains on and off the depot.
• Control train crew and manoeuvres per company policy on drugs and alcohol.
• Create and maintain the necessary safe conditions for work activity.
• Respond to the Shift Production Manager on service delivery issues.
• Liaise with Team Leader to arrange arrivals and departures of stock.
• Implement accident and emergency procedures and investigate incidents.
• Coordinate contractors providing services and communicate with external authorities.
• Plan and control possessions for infrastructure repairs and report progress.
• Maintain communications with third party customers to receive/despatch rolling stock.
• Call out Track Maintainer as required to fix track defects.
