Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a Depot Support Operative to work as part of the team at our depot in Leeds. We are seeking a Depot Support Operative to assist in all labouring duties and support all aspects of the transport and engineering functions at the depot.

You must be a great team player, reliable, and have a keen desire to learn within an engineering environment.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Work with drivers to ensure all trucks are loaded in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Pick and make available machines for drivers as notified on Transport planning sheets.
  3. Ensure all vehicles and drivers have loads available to maximise driving hours and vehicle efficiency.
  4. Ensure all diesel machines have tanks filled and chargeable invoicing information is completed daily.
  5. Maintain and improve machine layout to use available yard space efficiently.
  6. Park all machines after engineers have parked in the laydown area.
  7. Complete planned maintenance activities, including work to improve machine standards in the depot (cleaning and painting) and within Livery guidelines.
  8. Organise engineers' stores to ensure efficient use of parts in line with the LSM.
  9. Ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Tech X standards and policies, acting as an ambassador for the company.
  10. Provide high standards of customer care, maintaining politeness at all times.
  11. Maintain high levels of personal appearance, ensuring uniform and PPE are used correctly.
  12. Support the Location/Workshop Service Manager, Senior Service Engineer, and shift supervisor in maintenance operations.
  13. Provide general depot maintenance as required.
  14. Ensure electric machines are charged before and after inspection.
  15. Provide on-site support when needed.
  16. Use the internal mobile application to complete tasks as planned by the LSM/WSM or SSE.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Reliability and punctuality

  • Keen to learn and progress within an engineering environment
  • Flexible attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a reactive environment
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)
