Job summary

Bradford Council is seeking a Depot Supervisor for the South area to join our Parks & Street Cleansing South team. You will oversee maintenance activities across parks, playing fields, and other open spaces, ensuring high standards of service delivery.

The ideal candidate will lead outdoor teams, manage schedules, operate vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, and uphold safety and security of depot assets. A proactive, hands-on approach is essential to support winter maintenance and emergency responses.

Qualifications

• Supervision of maintenance activities across parks, playing fields, buildings and other open spaces.
• Leadership and coordination of outdoor teams across the district.
• Ability to direct depot staff with on-the-spot decisions on schedules, priorities and issues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance activities within sites including parks, playing fields, buildings and other open spaces.
• Lead and coordinate multiple small outdoor teams across the district.
• Direct depot employees and manage work schedules and priorities to deliver a quality service.
• Operate vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes with trailer attachments for transporting equipment.
• Ensure security of equipment; perform daily checks and organise repairs.
• Price up jobs, provide quotations and arrange invoicing through admin.
• Check property records to identify land ownership and handle insurance claims and complaints.
• Monitor staff workloads and performance; conduct tests and licence checks as required.
• Carry out return-to-work discussions for parks staff.
• Be responsible for security of depot/buildings within area of responsibility, including opening/closing.
• Assist in emergency service operations, including out-of-hours response and winter maintenance.
