Job summary

ScotRail is seeking a proactive engineering team member to control, drive and direct the safe movement of trains within the depot. You will drive, shunt, service and CET service EMUs, while maintaining a safe, clean and productive working environment.

The role offers a rotating 35-hour week with day/afternoon/night shifts; weekend work is required. Trainee salary £49,294 and after training £50,907 per year, with a range of benefits including pension and rail travel.

Qualifications

• Must be a highly motivated team player.

• Experience of working in an engineering environment.
• Willing to learn shunting and driving procedures.
• Formal shunting qualification would be desirable.

• Ability to drive road motor vehicle is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Control, drive and direct the safe movement of trains within depot limits.
• Drive, shunt, service and repair electric multiple units (EMUs).
• Carry out CET servicing to set standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a safe, clean and productive working environment.
• Undertake reception duties, depot security checks, service quality inspections, salting and snow clearing duties, and Yard Co-ordinator duties.
