You will also ensure that the Depot delivers its objectives in times of both stability and change with a proactive approach to continuous improvement, to achieve tactical and strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Production & Service Delivery: Ensure the reliable delivery of the required fleet production output, providing clean, safe, and functional trains into service on a daily basis.

Resource Management: Oversee the provision of sufficient resources in terms of number, skill, competence, and experience, ensuring a safe and efficient depot output, while maintaining compliance with company Human Resources policies.

Depot Safety Plans: Create, shape, and deliver strategic Depot Safety Plans, identifying
potential risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.

Support Structures: Ensure robust support structures are in place to enable the safe and efficient delivery of operations, including facilities management, quality assurance, health & safety, and environmental management.

Project Delivery & Governance: Support the delivery of fleet and business projects, ensuring robust implementation and governance at the depot level.

Financial Management: Deliver financial targets set for the Depot, identifying and mitigating any financial risks to ensure the depot remains within budget.

Compliance & Legislation: Ensure the Depot complies with all relevant legislation, contracts, and internal company processes and procedures.

Stakeholder Relations: Foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the depot’s needs are represented across broader company functions, and vice versa.

About you:

You should be a motivational leader with proven people management skills and a leadership background in a unionised production environment, with strong general management skills. You will have the ability to build strong relationships and have excellent commercial and financial management skills. You need to be a great communicator who can apply continuous improvement to look beyond the day to day for business improvements.

A degree or equivalent experience of railway rolling stock or another technical discipline would be advantageous. IOSHH, NEBOSH or an equivalent health and safety qualification, as well as A1 and/or V1 competency assessment qualification is desirable.
