Job summary

Vital Power Group in the UK is seeking a Depot Manager to oversee the Telford depot, ensuring efficient warehousing, stock control, and smooth day-to-day operations. You will develop and implement processes to support seamless depot management, working both independently and as part of a team to meet customer expectations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, good communication, and a proactive approach to safety, housekeeping, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Good general education and ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience in warehousing or logistics environments.
  • Full clean driving license with towing capability.
  • FLT license (CBAL) and CSCS/ECS card required.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage workload.
  • Team oriented with ability to work independently.
  • Positive problem-solving attitude and adaptability.
  • Willingness to undertake further training as required.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of day-to-day management, organisation and housekeeping of the Telford Depot.
  • Implement and operate a stock management system to improve efficiencies.
  • Assist with general upkeep and maintenance of the depot and stores.
  • Implement goods in/out system for parts, tooling and plant; manage paperwork.
  • Ensure all storage locations and stock areas are clearly identified and managed.
  • Maintain equipment serviceability, calibration and compliance where required.
  • Oversee offloading deliveries using FLT and processing into stock.
  • Monitor stock levels and raise replenishment when needed.
  • Conduct regular depot audits to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance and safe systems of work.
  • Maintain documentation, inspections and records; support other tasks as needed.
  • Communicate professionally across the team and contribute to objectives.

Job Overview – Depot Manager

Vital Power Group is looking for a Depot Manager to have an integral role in supporting and developing the maintenance of our Depot in Telford. You will be responsible for managing all warehouse organisation, housekeeping, logistical planning, goods in process, picking & packing and stock management. You must be confident in developing and implementing processes to support the seamless management within the Depot, able to work independently, and as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Take full ownership of the day-to-day management, organisation and housekeeping of the Telford Depot.
  • To implement and operate a stock management system to ensure efficiencies.
  • To assist with general upkeep / maintenance of the depot and stores.
  • To implement a goods in/out system process, covering parts, tooling, and plant, including submitting relevant paperwork to the National Operations Centre.
  • Ensure all storage locations, and stock areas are clearly identified and effectively managed.
  • Ensure all equipment remains serviceable, calibrated and compliant where required.
  • To be responsible for offloading deliveries (using FLT) and processing into stock.
  • To monitor stock levels and request replenishment when required.
  • Conduct regular depot audits to ensure compliance with company standards and operational requirements.
  • Ensure the depot and its activities remain compliant with all Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
  • Support the implementation of safe systems of work and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation, inspections and records are maintained accurately.
  • To assist with other manual tasks as / when required by the business
  • To focus on achieving individual and team objectives
  • To work positively and communicate professionally across the team, providing an effective contribution to work tasks.
Person Specification
Criteria - Education, Qualifications & Experience
  • Good level of general education
  • Previous experience in warehousing/logistics
  • Full clean driving license (with towing capability)
  • FLT License (CBAL)
  • Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
  • Willingness to undertake further training as required for professional development
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card
