Matchtech is excited to be working alongside a tier-1 telecommunications/utilities client in Basingstoke. We have a live opportunity for an experienced Depot Manager/Fleet Manager.

Brief overview of the role and project

As a Depot, Plant, and Stores Manager, you will oversee our client's telecoms/utilities contracts based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Your responsibilities will include managing depot facilities, materials, equipment, plant, and fleet. Main duties involve ensuring compliance with client standards, efficient planning and management of materials for each project, and overseeing fleet and plant operations. You will also have line management responsibilities for Storepersons.

Accountabilities

1. Implement effective stock management processes for each project, ensuring materials are purchased, stored, allocated, and issued efficiently. Support planning of build materials, maintain minimum stock levels, and keep various material systems updated.
2. Oversee stock usage, costs, and loss reporting, including managing stock audits and stock take programs.
3. Manage all plant and tools, ensuring equipment is accounted for, serviced, maintained, tested, hired, and off-hired efficiently.
4. Liaise with the Hire Desk to ensure accurate reporting of plant.
5. Coordinate fleet requirements across all sites, ensuring proper allocation, utilization, servicing, and maintenance.
6. Work with the Transport Department to ensure processes and procedures are followed.
7. Promote and monitor the use of the Check Safe phone app.
8. Perform other reasonable activities, tasks, or duties as required, which may include travel between sites and yards.
9. Experience in a similar construction delivery depot or materials management role.
10. Demonstrated experience in material management and stores functions.
11. Valid UK Driving Licence.
12. Strong people management skills.
13. COSHH awareness training.
14. First Aid certification.
15. IOSH/NEBOSH certifications.
