About the Company

A well-established and leading UK-based generator hire company is seeking a dedicated Depot Foreman to join their team in the South East. The company provides dependable, sustainable power solutions across a wide range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, utilities, and electrical contracting. Their reputation is built on service excellence, reliability, and a commitment to delivering customer satisfaction.

Role Overview

This position is responsible for leading the Engineering department at the South East Depot, overseeing a team of Generator PDI Engineers, Electrical PDI Engineers, Workshop Engineers, and Labourers. The successful candidate will ensure efficient depot operations, uphold health and safety compliance, and maintain high-quality standards for all equipment delivered to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all equipment complies with current safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Promote a culture of safe working, enforcing adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organised, and efficient work environment in line with regulatory and company standards.
  • Manage and support a multi-skilled engineering team within the depot.
  • Align team activities with broader business objectives.
  • Conduct performance reviews and arrange targeted training where necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative, safety-first culture that encourages continuous improvement and accountability.

Operational Oversight

  • Manage the daily engineering operations, including generator PDI processes, stock logistics, and workshop coordination.
  • Attend customer site surveys, installations, and respond to equipment breakdowns when required.
  • Participate in the depot’s out-of-hours call-out rota.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure all generators and associated equipment are serviced, maintained, and repaired to a high standard, ensuring they’re ready for hire.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels of generators, cables, and related assets to meet demand.
  • Manage stock replenishment and record accuracy through the company’s InspHire database.
  • Ensure the depot holds sufficient PDI-ready stock for emergencies and short-notice hires.

Candidate Profile

Skills & Experience

  • Proven background in a similar role within the power generation or equipment hire sector.
  • Strong engineering experience, particularly with diesel engine maintenance and generator systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate engineering teams.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety standards in an engineering context.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
