Job description

Depot Engineering Manager PSV Fleet
Location: Glasgow (Relocation Supported)
Salary: £65K (smaller depot) or £70K (larger depot) + benefits

You're an Engineering Managerwho knows how to lead a team, keep a busy depot running, and make sure buses stay on the road. You've managed people. You've dealt with pressure. And you understand PSV.

This is a senior role with one of the UK's major public transport operators, based in Glasgow. Two depot options are available, depending on your experience and preference. Both sites are unionised, fast-paced, and require someone who can earn trust, make decisions, and keep things moving.

If you are from a PSV or Fleet bus world, maybeyou've got a military background, this is something to look into - Relocation is on offer too, so not just for Glasgow-based candidates.

What you'll be doing

  • Running the engineering function at a major bus depot

  • Leading and motivating engineers, supervisors, and apprentices

  • Managing compliance, safety, training, and depot performance

  • Reducing downtime, repeat defects, and cost per mile

  • Delivering MOT pass rates, audit compliance, and operational targets

  • Working within a unionised environment and driving positive relationships

  • Being hands-on, visible, and respected on the workshop floor

What you'll need

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

  • Proven leadership in a PSV fleet, transport, or similar engineering environment

  • Worked within a unionised environment, and the day-to-day dealings.

  • Strong understanding of VOSA, H&S, and depot operations

  • Solid communication and decision-making skills

  • Confidence to manage people, pressure, and priorities

Nice to have

  • EV bus knowledge
  • Experience with SAP or engineering systems

This is a proper leadership role. Not one for clipboard-holders or background passengers. You'll have real responsibility, real backing, and the chance to make a serious impact.
