SSTL Head of Regulatory and Technical

Who we are looking for

The UK-based Head of Regulatory and Technical (Edinburgh or London based) will work to ensure that State Street Trustees Limited (SSTL) is seen as a market leader in the provision of regulatory and technical guidance to State Street's UK depositary clients. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring regulatory developments impacting the delivery of depositary and trustee services by SSTL and supporting SSTL's ongoing compliance with its regulatory obligations. Confidence to engage and communicate with clients and colleagues at all levels, coupled with excellent written and oral skills, are a must. The ability to advocate and challenge while maintaining excellent relationships is also of primary importance.

With nine depositaries across Europe, depositary is an integral product for State Street in EMEA. SSTL, State Street's UK depositary, is one of the largest providers of trustee and depositary services in the UK, overseeing approximately 445 UCITS and AIFMD funds across 40 clients with total assets of GBP 369bn.

The Head of Regulatory and Technical will report to SSTL's Deputy CEO and will:

• Ensure SSTL is regarded as a market leader in providing regulatory and technical guidance to our customers.
• Provide technical services to ensure SSTL stays current with all relevant regulations, market developments, and fiduciary oversight standards.
• Assist in maintaining a productive dialogue with the FCA.
• Act as an advisor on regulatory and procedural issues.
• Represent SSTL on the UK Depositary Association's Technical Committee.
• Serve as Chair and Secretariat of the SSTL Regulatory Change Forum.

What you will be responsible for

As SSTL Head of Regulatory and Technical, you will:

• Represent SSTL Technical in meetings and report to governance committees, including SSTL's Board and ExCo, with relevant information for effective decision-making.
• Provide internal technical resources within SSTL and IS on Collective Investment Schemes.
• Provide external technical support to clients on Collective Investment Schemes.
• Organise, chair, and present at Technical Round Table meetings with clients.
• Produce and distribute regulatory summaries and technical bulletins.
• Represent SSTL on industry committees, such as the UKDA Technical Committee.
• Proactively issue commentary on regulatory and market developments to clients.
• Develop relationships and raise SSTL's profile through presentations at seminars and conferences.
• Contribute to marketing and strategic initiatives within SSTL.
• Act as Chair and Secretariat of the SSTL Regulatory Change Forum.
• Participate as a member of SSTL ExCo, FEC, and other committees as needed.
• Interface with the FCA as requested by the Deputy CEO.
• Contribute to the work of State Street's EMEA depositary product group and the Regulatory, Industry, and Government Affairs group.

Education & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in financial services.
• Experience in regulatory, technical, or compliance roles within financial services, depositary, or asset management.
• Knowledge of UK collective investment schemes, the role of the depositary, and fund administration/operations is preferable.

Additional requirements

Hybrid working with at least 2 days in the office per week.
