About the role

The Department of Sociology is seeking to appoint a full-time, fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Sociology from September 2025 for a period of 1 year. The post holder will primarily lecture and teach students taking the MSc in Sociology, the MPhil in Sociology and Demography, and the BA in Human Sciences. They will lead on or contribute to some of the core and optional papers, particularly the graduate course on Life Course Research and the undergraduate optional course in Quantitative Methods. Main duties include assessment, examining, and supporting the delivery of the departmental masters programme.

The successful applicant will have a relevant PhD or DPhil, post-qualification teaching and research experience, sufficient subject knowledge to develop course units, an aptitude for teaching, awareness of pedagogic methods, a strong publication record, and evidence of the ability to write research proposals.
