A leading department within the University is seeking a Departmental Lecturer in Medical Statistics and Cancer Research. This role involves providing expert leadership in research, developing statistical methods for teaching, and contributing significantly to the EBHC DPhil programme and Cancer Theme, with potential for remote work arrangements.
Location: Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford
Salary: Research Grade 8: £48,235 - £57,255 per annum with a discretionary range to £64,228 per annum (pro-rata)
Applications are invited for a Departmental Lecturer in Medical Statistics and Cancer Research to work with teams lead by Professor Carl Heneghan (Centre for Evidence Based Medicine) & Professor Brian Nicholson (Cancer Theme).
The successful applicant will be Stats lead for the EBHC DPhil programme and Methodological lead for the Cancer Theme. Responsibilities will include providing strategic leadership, expert advice and development of medical statistics, including defining minimum standards of competence for medical statistics across the EBHC DPhil Programme and Cancer Theme, leading the development of statistical analysis plans and quantitative methodologies for observational and prospective studies & clinical trials and providing statistical expertise, and help develop undergraduate and post-graduate students to the successful completion of their research programmes and projects.
You will hold a relevant postgraduate qualification (PhD or DPhil) with post-qualification teaching and research experience in Evidence-Based Medicine or applied Health Sciences, sufficient specialist knowledge in Medical Statistics to independently develop research methods for teaching students and an aptitude for developing statistical methods for use with large electronic health records datasets, prospective studies, and clinical trials.
You will be based in Radcliffe Primary Care, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work but you will be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.
The position is for a duration of two years in the first instance.
