Job description

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the efficient and effective front-of-house operations of the store, adhering to the company's operating guidelines and standards.
You will also act as the Store Manager's deputy in their absence.
This position requires the ability and sensitivity to seamlessly manage operational aspects of the business, particularly when collaborating with or stepping in for other Department Managers.

Managing the Team

  • Leading by example, give priority to the shop floor and ensure a warm atmosphere in which to welcome our customers.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and support to the team, allowing them to provide service standards of the highest quality.
  • Undertake and monitor the progress of new staff members in the store ensuring that they receive a proper induction to the business.
  • Support temporary staff in providing the service levels our customers deserve.
  • Ensure that the team is properly trained on in-store procedures, product knowledge, handling, and presentation techniques.
  • Work with the Store and Administration Managers to ensure adequate cover on the shop floor, including during holiday and peak periods.

Customer Relations Management

  • Support the development of new client relations and maintain an accurate client database.
  • Assist the team in delivering exceptional service and encourage repeat visits.
  • Coordinate with the Press department for Hermès events and with the Client Experience Manager on CRM initiatives.
  • Manage customer complaints proactively and promptly.

Sales Development

  • Achieve sales targets and support team members in reaching their objectives.
  • Guide on the use of sales tools (HPad, My Folio, etc.) and manage merchandise flow with the Stock team.
  • Maintain knowledge of stock availability and report issues to the Store Manager.
  • Utilize available reports to develop action plans for business improvement.
  • Produce and review store performance reports.

Store Operations

  • Handle keyholding duties, including opening and closing the store.
  • Manage financial compliance, including banking and cash reconciliation.
  • Ensure the store and team presentation meet Hermès standards and maintain safety and security protocols.
  • Assist during stocktakes and cycle counts.
  • Support administrative tasks to allow sales staff to focus on client engagement.

Competencies

  • Proven management experience and ability to act as second-in-command.
  • Organized, flexible, reliable, and professional.
  • Strong CRM focus with excellent communication and management skills.
  • Proficient in IT systems, Microsoft Office, and Windows.
  • Capable of working autonomously and efficiently under pressure.
