Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist/Therapist to perform a wide range of clinical and preventative procedures on referrals. The post involves domiciliary care where required, and extended duties such as conscious sedation where appropriate.

You will deliver oral health advice, comply with NHS PDS regulations, and maintain contemporaneous records. The role is peripatetic across Central Lancashire sites, including Bamber Bridge Clinic, Ringway Dental

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of clinical and preventative dental procedures on referral from a dentist.
  • Provide dental care on a domiciliary basis where required.
  • Participate in training and carry out extended duties (e.g., conscious sedation).
  • Provide oral health advice and instruction.
  • Comply with NHS PDS Regulations and policies.
  • Keep contemporaneous clinical records using the preferred system.
  • Work at sites across LSCft Dental Services.

Job description

o Perform a wide range of clinical and preventative dental procedures on referral from a dentist in line with current Scope of Practice.o Provide dental care on a domiciliary basis where required.o To participate in training and carry out extended duties where appropriate for example in conscious sedation.o To provide oral health advice and instruction in line with Delivering Better Oral Health and MECC.o Comply with National Trust and Dental Services policies, procedures and guidance, NHS PDS Regulationso To keep contemporaneous clinical records using the preferred record keeping system.o You can be expected to work at any of the sites across LSCft Dental Services.

  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy or equivalent
  • Dental indemnity insurance
  • Full GDC registration without restriction, Knowledge of NHS PDS Regulations
  • Knowledge of Scope of Practice
  • Effective planner/organiser, Evidence of clinical and non-clinical leadership and management skills
  • Evidence of continual professional development both general and role specific
  • Evidence of providing both urgent and routine care on a regular basis

The post is 22.5 hours (and can be and 3 days except Mondays) for our sites in Central Lancashire ( Bamber Bridge Clinic, Ringway Dental Centre and Ashton Health Centre). The post is peripatetic across these sites in accordance with Service need. You can be expected to work at other sites within LSCft Dental Services.
