Job summary

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Dental Therapist to work across our Central Lancashire dental sites (Bamber Bridge, Ringway, Ashton). The role is 22.5 hours across up to three days (excluding Mondays) and is peripatetic to meet service needs.

Applicants must have NHS dentistry experience, a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy, and Full GDC registration. The post supports flexible working patterns and DBS checks where required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy or equivalent.
  • Full GDC registration without restriction.
  • Dental indemnity insurance.
  • Knowledge of NHS PDS Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Scope of Practice.
  • Experience in leadership and management skills.
  • Experience providing urgent and routine care regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of clinical and preventative dental procedures on referral from a dentist.
  • Provide dental care on a domiciliary basis where required.
  • Participate in training and extended duties (e.g., conscious sedation).
  • Provide oral health advice and instruction.
  • Keep contemporaneous clinical records using the preferred system.
  • Work at sites across LSCft Dental Services.

Job description

Our Vision is to provide the best mental health, learning disability, autism, community, and physical health services for the populations we serve.

As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
  • Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dental Therapist to join Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dental Services.

Experience of working in NHS dentistry is essential.

The post is 22.5 hours (and can be 3 days except Mondays) for our sites in Central Lancashire ( Bamber Bridge Clinic, Ringway Dental Centre and Ashton Health Centre). The post is peripatetic across these sites in accordance with Service need.

You can be expected to work at other sites within LSCft Dental Services.

Main duties of the job
  • Perform a wide range of clinical and preventative dental procedures on referral from a dentist in line with current Scope of Practice.
  • Provide dental care on a domiciliary basis where required.
  • To participate in training and carry out extended duties where appropriate for example in conscious sedation.
  • To provide oral health advice and instruction in line with Delivering Better Oral Health and MECC.
  • Comply with National Trust and Dental Services policies, procedures and guidance, NHS PDS Regulations
  • To keep contemporaneous clinical records using the preferred record keeping system.
  • You can be expected to work at any of the sites across LSCft Dental Services.
