Job summary

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dental Services is seeking a Dental Therapist to join our team. The post is 22.5 hours per week and is peripatetic across Central Lancashire sites including Bamber Bridge Clinic, Ringway Dental Centre and Ashton Health Centre, with occasional work at other LS Cft Dental sites.

You will perform a wide range of clinical and preventative procedures, provide domiciliary care when needed, and participate in training including extended duties such as

• Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy is required.
• Full GDC registration without restriction is required.
• Evidence of clinical and non-clinical leadership and ongoing professional development is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of clinical and preventative dental procedures on referral from a dentist in line with current Scope of Practice.
• Provide dental care on a domiciliary basis where required.
• Participate in training and carry out extended duties, for example in conscious sedation.
• Provide oral health advice in line with Delivering Better Oral Health and MECC.
• Keep contemporaneous clinical records using the preferred record keeping system.
• Be prepared to work at various LS Cft Dental Services sites as needed.

• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
• Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
• Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dental Therapist to join Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dental Services.

Experience of working in NHS dentistry is essential.

The post is 22.5 hours (and can be and 3 days except Mondays) for our sites in Central Lancashire ( Bamber Bridge Clinic, Ringway Dental Centre and Ashton Health Centre). The post is peripatetic across these sites in accordance with Service need.

You can be expected to work at other sites within LSCft Dental Services.

• You can be expected to work at any of the sites across LSCft Dental Services.

Person specification

Qualifications

• Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy or equivalent
• Dental indemnity insurance
• Full GDC registration without restriction

Knowledge

• Knowledge of NHS PDS Regulations
• Knowledge of Scope of Practice

Experience

• Evidence of clinical and non-clinical leadership and management skills
• Evidence of continual professional development both general and role specific
• Evidence of providing both urgent and routine care on a regular basis
