Job summary

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust invites a Dental Nurse to join the Special Care and Paediatric Dental Service. You will provide chairside support to Dental Officers and Therapists, help run clinics and cover at short notice, with a focus on patient safety and infection control.

A full GDC registration, NHS experience, and a full driving licence to travel between sites are required. The post offers ongoing CPD, opportunities to develop conscious sedation and domiciliary

Qualifications

• Current full GDC registration as a Dental Nurse.
• Experience supporting NHS dental care.
• Full driving licence to travel between clinics.

Responsibilities

• Provide chaperone and clinical support to Dental Officer and Dental Therapist during clinical and surgical procedures.
• Ensure the smooth running of clinics and cover other areas for staff leave or absence, often at short notice.
• Provide advice on oral hygiene and peri-operative care.
• Provide personal care associated with surgical procedures.
• Operate specialist dental equipment as prescribed by Dental Officer and Dental Therapist.
• Complete and document daily, weekly and monthly checks on medical devices before use.
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly checks so emergency drugs and resuscitation equipment are in date and working.
• Ensure all documentation is completed.
• Keep the dental environment clean and free of clutter, with dental materials in date and stocks replenished.
• Store medicines in accordance with Trust policy.
• Complete Trust mandatory and essential training and CPD, including the CPD needed to meet GDC registration requirements and CPD within the specialty.

This Dental Nurse post sits in the Special Care and Paediatric Dental Service of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Specialist sedation and domiciliary dentistry training are on offer, and a full driving licence is needed for travel between sites. GDC registration and existing right to work are required, as visa sponsorship is not available.
