Job summary

The Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Dental Nurse (Band 4) to join the Maxillofacial outpatient team in East Grinstead. The role involves assisting clinicians across orthodontics, maxillofacial, and head & neck oncology clinics, with opportunities to contribute to facial trauma care.

Per annum pro rata for part-time hours, with a dedicated team focused on high-quality patient care and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• GDC registration must be current and valid for UK practice.
• IRMER knowledge and infection control procedure familiarity.
• Experience in orthodontics and oral surgery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist nursing support to maxillofacial clinicians, orthodontists and hospital practitioners within the department.
• Work as part of a team to ensure a safe, effective care environment for patients and carers, with appropriate supervision as needed.
• Assist clinicians with orthodontics, maxillofacial, and head & neck oncology clinics, and trauma clinics.

We are looking to recruit a Dental Nurse to join our busy and diverse team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Maxillofacial outpatient department comprising of a number of specialist areas such as Orthodontics, Orthognathics, Head & Neck Cancers and Trauma and Minor Oral Surgery.

Main duties of the job

• Assist with clinicians in orthodontics
• Help with running Maxillofacial and Head and neck Oncology clinics
• Help with facial trauma clinics
• Assist clinicians with MOS

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To provide specialist nursing support to maxillofacial clinicians, Orthodontists and hospital practitioners, within the department.
• To work as part of a team to provide a safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers. Under supervision, be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. An expectation to be able to demonstrate procedures and supervise unqualified staff, and work without direct supervision.

• Apply the principals of the GDC Code at all times.
• Demonstrate commitment to quality patient care through effective team working.
