Job summary

East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust is seeking a dental nurse to join the Maxillofacial team across our East Kent sites. You will provide essential dental nursing support to Consultants, SpRs, and other clinicians, and participate in radiography, impression-taking and oral health education as part of patient care.

The role involves assisting during treatment, preparing materials and equipment, maintaining clinical areas, and ensuring infection control standards are met.

Qualifications

• Experience as a dental nurse or willingness to work in dental nursing support.
• Follows GDC guidelines on cross infection in practice.
• Ability to assist clinicians and support patients during treatment.

Responsibilities

• Providing assistance throughout treatment.
• Mixing and preparing materials, dressings and equipment.
• Care of equipment and reporting issues.
• Undertake general duties of the day-to-day running of the Maxillofacial unit.
• Ensure conformance with cross infection guidelines.
• Assist clinicians in delivery of care, including preparing areas, receiving patients, observing patients, keeping the environment clean, and respecting team members.

Job description

We are a multidisciplinary team within the Maxillofacial Department, covering East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust sites. Providing special care and Dental Nursing support to various grades of clinical team members - including Consultants, SpR's, Associate Specialists, Orthodontic and Dental Therapists and Dental Core Trainees We have a team of 30 Dental Nurse who work across our East Kent Hospitals sites. Many are skilled in Radiography, Oral Health Education and taking of impressions.

Main duties of the job

• Providing assistance throughout treatment.
• Mixing and preparing of materials, dressings and equipment.
• Care of equipment and reporting issues
• To undertake general duties associated with the day to day running of the Maxillofacial unit.
• Ensuring that GDC guidelines on cross infection are conformed to.
• To assist the clinicians in the Delivery of Care to patients, which will include:
• Preparation of clinical area prior to start of each session.
• Receiving and preparing patients for treatment.
• Observing condition of the patient throughout treatment.
• To help maintain a clean and tidy environment at all times.
• Respect every member of the team.
