We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in South Wales, who are recruiting for a Democratic Services Officer to join their growing team on a locum, fully remote basis.

Both full-time (37 hours/week) and part-time (30 hours/week) options can be considered. The hourly rate is circa £35.00/hour (Umbrella), negotiable.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting the Chairs of the Committees through advice and briefings, as well as supporting the Democratic Services team on Member training and development.
  • Providing support to all elected member decision-making meetings, including advice on the Council's Constitution, Standing Orders, and legislation.
  • Managing all aspects of public committee meetings.
  • Making comprehensive notes of meetings and resolutions, producing draft minutes, circulating for approval, and publishing finalized minutes.
  • Assisting the Democratic Manager with maintaining and developing the Council's online services, including uploading agendas, reports, minutes, and audio recordings.
  • Providing advice on Standing Orders, Members' Code of Conduct, and other constitutional and procedural matters.

Requirements:

  • Experience within Local Government.
  • Strong understanding of democratic and decision-making processes.
  • Experience managing all aspects of public committee meetings.
