Description du poste

Working alongside our management team, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and quality of our specialist dementia service, while acting as dementia practice lead across the wider home. Ahead of opening, you'll be involved in developing the service: helping to recruit and build your team, establishing ways of working, contributing to assessments and care pathways, developing dementia practice and ensuring the environment supports the people who will live within it. Once open, you'll:

  • Lead, manage and develop the dementia care team, setting clear expectations for quality, practice and performance.
  • Maintain oversight of care planning, assessment, risk, medication, safeguarding and quality within the service.
  • Lead the continued development of person-centred, evidence-based dementia practice, including structured observation and other approaches where appropriate.
  • Support positive approaches to complex and changing needs, balancing safety with independence, choice and positive risk-taking.
  • Contribute specialist dementia expertise to pre-admission assessments and decisions about how individual needs can best be supported.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, building dementia knowledge and confidence across the home.
  • Work closely with residents, families and health and social care professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Continually review the quality of the service, identifying opportunities to improve residents' experience and the practice of the team.

We're looking for an experienced Dementia Care Manager to join us ahead of opening and play a key role in commissioning and developing the service. We're looking for someone with strong dementia expertise and proven care leadership experience who can help us define what excellent dementia care should look like at Wendover Manor and then lead delivery in practice. You'll have significant experience supporting people living with dementia, alongside experience leading or managing a care team. You'll have strong practical knowledge of dementia care and a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, care planning and relevant regulatory requirements.

We're looking for someone who is warm, confident and knowledgeable, but also positive and solution-focused. Someone who looks beyond a diagnosis, is curious about what a person may be communicating and balances safety with independence, choice and positive risk-taking.
