Job description

Welcome to Haleon. We’re a purpose-driven, world-class consumer company putting everyday health in the hands of millions. In just three years since our launch, we’ve grown, evolved and are now entering an exciting new chapter – one filled with bold ambitions and enormous opportunity.

Our trusted portfolio of brands – including Sensodyne®, Panadol®, Advil®, Voltaren®, Theraflu®, Otrivin®, and Centrum® – lead in resilient and growing categories. What sets us apart is our unique blend of deep human understanding and trusted science.

Now it’s time to fully realise the full potential of our business and our people. We do this through our Win as One strategy. It puts our purpose – to deliver better everyday health with humanity – at the heart of everything we do. It unites us, inspires us, and challenges us to be better every day, driven by our agile, performance-focused culture.

About the role

We have established a Supply Chain Planning Centre of Excellence (CoE) to drive enhancements in our supply chain planning. Our focus is on achieving operational excellence, optimising inventory, boosting customer satisfaction and gaining competitive advantage within our Business Units and Planning Service Centres (PSC). This CoE transcends mere process standardisation and incremental improvement. It is dedicated to fostering innovation and exploring new technologies.

By adopting disruptive approaches to supply chain planning, we are setting a new benchmark for agility and strategic growth, ultimately delivering the desired business outcomes.

HERMES is our global planning transformation programme, deploying a single integrated planning solution and a common set of end-to-end planning processes across our markets. The Business Process Expert (BPE) community sits at the point where programme delivery and the CoE meet: designing the process, proving it in the system, embedding it in the daily routine of planning teams and then holding the standard once the programme has moved on.

The Demand Business Process Expert supports the Global Demand Process Owner in designing, proving and deploying the global demand planning process. The role covers the full demand chain: statistical baseline generation, demand enrichment, consensus demand review and the handover of one agreed demand signal into supply. It is equally a design role and a deployment role. The BPE builds the standard with the Global Process Owner, tests it in the system alongside the system integrator, and then works market by market to make it real, including the daily routine, the scorecard, the training and the documentation that keep it in place.

This role reports to the Global Demand Process Owner within the Supply Chain Planning Centre of Excellence, part of our Planning & Digital Excellence global organisation.

Key responsibilities
Process design and standards
  • Supporting demand planning process design based on daily data analysis and KPI dashboards, covering statistical baseline, demand enrichment, consensus review and demand handover.
  • Ensuring adherence to forecasting principles, guidelines and process, including the one demand signal discipline: statistical baseline owned by Demand Planning, promotional uplift owned by Sales, growth building blocks owned by the building block owner and the final number owned by the IBP Lead.
  • Protecting against double counting by ensuring enrichment building blocks only cover what historical data cannot see.
  • Maintaining process documentation, RACI and standard operating procedures for the demand discipline, and keeping them current as the solution evolves.
Daily Management Standards and Daily Direction Setting
  • Supporting the Global Demand Process Owner in defining Daily Management Standards (DMS) and Daily Direction Setting (DDS) for the demand discipline.
  • Defining the exception and alert framework that directs planner attention, including forecast bias, large period-on-period forecast movement, unexplained variance and lapsed sign off.
  • Driving DMS and DDS deployment into local markets and coaching teams through the first cycles of the new cadence.
Performance and scorecard
  • Establishing the demand related scorecard and its associated KPIs, including statistical forecast accuracy (SFA), forecast bias, forecast value add and the count of markets performing above threshold.
  • Supporting root cause analysis on KPI performance and translating findings into specific process, parameter or capability actions rather than general observations.
  • Aligning end-to-end transformation overarching processes with the other end-to-end streams and with internal and external partners.
Data, systems and digital
  • Supporting system related functionality build in cooperation with the system integrator, the system provider and internal global and local teams.
  • Supporting alignment of data gathering and transformation standards with enterprise-wide stakeholders, especially Technology and Commercial.
  • Driving improvement in data quality in cooperation with related internal and external teams, including sales history cleansing, outlier treatment, product hierarchy integrity and sell-out signal availability.
  • Owning demand-side planning parameter definitions such as forecast model selection, history horizons, forecast aggregation levels and lifecycle profiles, in partnership with the GPO Planning Parameters & Synchronisation.
Deployment and change
  • Assisting Change Impact Assessment (CIA), training development and documentation in cooperation with internal and external partners.
  • Supporting the global roll out of process, system and scorecard into local markets.
  • Supporting local teams in understanding the process, the system and the tasks related to roll out preparation.
  • Transitioning ownership of the deployed standard into the CoE at the point the programme steps back, so that nothing is left without an owner.
Main competences
  • Discipline subject matter expertise: Deep working knowledge of demand planning: statistical forecasting methods, forecast error and bias measurement, demand segmentation, promotional and event modelling, new product forecasting and consensus demand review. Able to hold a credible technical conversation with planners, with the system integrator and with senior leadership on the same day.
  • Data analysis and dashboard creation: Strong numerical and analytical skills. Able to combine data from different sources, build and maintain KPI dashboards, draw solid conclusions, create action plans and follow them through. Able to generate insight from both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Process design and improvement: Expertise in process design, Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement approaches. Proven experience in process design, simplification, standardisation, alignment and roll out.
  • Project and programme management: Able to plan, sequence and land deliverables within a programme structure, manage dependencies across workstreams and hold pace against a critical path.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Experience and capability in guiding multi-national and cross-functional teams within a matrix environment, without direct line authority.
  • Change leadership: Strong change leadership experience. Able to assess change impact, anticipate resistance and build the case for a new way of working with the teams who have to live with it.
  • Communication and collaboration: Good communication and team-oriented skills. Senior stakeholder management skills and experience in engaging internal customers. Able to convey ideas concisely and clearly to markets, Business Units and senior management, and to push back constructively where necessary.
  • Close to the ground: Ability to stay close to the ground to understand the real end user experience and perspective, and to reflect it in the design rather than defending the design against it.
Experience needed
  • Substantial experience (typically six years or more) in demand planning, forecasting or integrated business planning within a multi-market environment.
  • Hands-on experience with an advanced demand planning solution, ideally SAP IBP for Demand, or an equivalent such as o9, Kinaxis or SAP APO DP.
  • Proven experience in process design, simplification, standardisation, alignment and roll out across multiple markets.
  • Experience working alongside a system integrator on functional design, testing and hypercare.
  • Experience of the pharmaceutical, consumer goods or FMCG sector is preferred.
Qualifications
  • University degree (BSc or equivalent) in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional supply chain certification such as APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP is desirable.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or above) or formal continuous improvement training is advantageous.
  • Formal demand planning or forecasting qualification (for example IBF CPF) is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken). Additional languages are an advantage given the global scope of the role.
