Job summary

Royal Mail in Braintree is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed term contract for 9 months. The role covers delivering letters and parcels, walking long distances, and driving a Royal Mail van on a rotating schedule.

You must hold a full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points, be willing to pass a driving assessment, and be physically fit to work outdoors and independently. 30 hours per week across 5 days, with weekend work and overtime where available.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
• Build relationships with customers
