Job summary

Seehra Transport is seeking reliable self-employed van drivers to deliver parcels across Birmingham and surrounding areas. You will start at the depot each morning, plan your route and complete deliveries to residential and business addresses within set time windows.

You control how you work, with flexible scheduling and the potential for additional earnings during peak periods. You will use handheld scanners and delivery apps, maintain vehicle readiness, and represent the brand professionally.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence held for minimum 12 months, with no more than 6 points.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Registered as self-employed with HMRC (or willing to register) with a UTR number.
• Own van or willing to hire via approved supplier.
• Insurance and goods-in-transit cover.
• Smartphone with data.
• Basic DBS check (we can arrange).

Responsibilities

• Load and unload parcels safely at start and end of shift.
• Plan and follow efficient routes, adapt to traffic and closures.
• Deliver to residential and business addresses within time windows.
• Capture proof of delivery with handheld device (signatures/photos).
• Handle failed deliveries and returns per process.
• Manage collections and returns where required.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness.
• Keep accurate delivery, mileage and fuel records.
• Represent the brand professionally at the doorstep.

About the Company

Self-Employed Delivery Driver (Van) — Birmingham

Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas

Contract: Self-employed / subcontractor

Hours: Approx. 40–50 hours per week, with flexibility on scheduling

About the Role

We're looking for reliable self-employed van drivers to deliver parcels across Birmingham and the surrounding region. You'll collect your route from the depot each morning, plan your run, and deliver to residential and business addresses to agreed service standards. Routes are typically within a defined radius, so you'll get to know your patch well. This suits someone who wants control over how they work, prefers being out on the road to being desk-bound, and takes pride in getting the job done properly rather than just getting it done.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload parcels safely and accurately at the start and end of each shift
• Plan and follow efficient delivery routes, adapting to traffic, road closures and access issues
• Deliver parcels to residential and commercial addresses within agreed time windows
• Capture proof of delivery, signatures and photos using a handheld scanner or mobile app
• Handle failed deliveries, redelivery attempts and returns according to process
• Manage collections and returns where required
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
• Keep the vehicle clean, roadworthy and legally compliant
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage and fuel
• Represent the brand professionally at every doorstep

• Good spatial awareness for manoeuvring a van in tight residential streets, city-centre loading bays and multi-storey car parks
• Strong navigational skills and sound judgement on route sequencing — able to work with a planned route but adjust sensibly when conditions change
• Familiarity with Birmingham's road network, or the ability to learn it quickly

• Able to structure a full day's workload independently and keep to time without supervision

• Comfortable working to KPIs around delivery success rate, drops per hour and on-time performance

Preferred Skills

• Previous multi-drop, courier or last-mile delivery experience
• Knowledge of Birmingham postcodes and local geography
• Experience with delivery scanning apps or route optimisation software
