Job description

Full Time, Permanent

The Portfolios, Programmes and Projects (PPP) Service supports the council to deliver its strategic priorities through transformation, change and capital construction projects and programmes.

The work we do is determined and prioritised by the council’s senior management team and extends across the whole organisation, providing a challenging, varied and rewarding range of opportunities.

We are an established and experienced team of Portfolio Management and programme and project delivery professionals.

This DELIVERY BUSINESS PARTNER role works as part of the PPP service’s management team and supports the CHANGE & TRANSFORMATION PORTFOLIO.

People working in this role build strong, collaborative relationships with senior managers in a particular directorate, learning about their work and understanding their priorities so that they are able to support the identification, evaluation and approval of new projects and programmes as well as providing oversight and assurance for programmes and projects in-flight.

Applying your change and transformation project delivery experience, you will ensure that project managers get the best possible start on new assignments, with clearly defined objectives, an appropriate budget and the right team in place to begin work

Maintaining a confident view on progress in terms of plan, budget and benefits is also crucial in order to keep stakeholders appraised of performance and to facilitate effective responses to key risks and issues, actively problem solving and bringing the right people together at the right time to keep pace in the work.

This is a dynamic role, in a fast-paced delivery environment you will have the opportunity to contribute and make a tangible difference through supporting and enabling the organisation to deliver real and impactful outcomes.

The role is currently hybrid with flexibility to work regularly from home, however candidates should note that their contractual place of work will be City Hall in Bristol and they might be expected to attend this location in-person for up to five working days each week depending on the demands of the service we provide.

Why Bristol City Council?

At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. For the majority of our roles hybrid working arrangements are available, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice - mixing both home and office working.
