Severn Trent’s Capital Delivery team is seeking a Delivery Business Lead to own end-to-end delivery of a multi-project capital portfolio across the Midlands, with projects up to hundreds of millions of pounds.

Based in Coventry but travelling to other offices, you will lead cross‑functional teams, align with external partners and stakeholders, and drive performance improvements to deliver on time, to budget and to required quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in asset-intensive industries (water, rail, highways, nuclear, utilities, telecoms) and delivering large multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects.
• Proven ability to develop talent and build high performing teams.

Severn Trent’s Capital and Commercial Services Business Area is gearing up to deliver AMP8, delivering over 1bn of capital spend per annum to achieve our most ambitious capital programme ever at 6.5bn of enhancements work, benefiting both our customers and the environment.

This role is to be based in Coventry, but will require travel to other offices across the Midlands on occasion.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Reporting directly to the Strategic Lead, the Delivery Business Lead, will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a capital programme across Severn Trent’s project portfolio to time, to quality and to budget, with individual projects ranging up to hundreds of millions of pounds. Forming a crucial part of our Capital Delivery leadership team, you will drive real efficiency through sustained performance improvement and innovative ways of working, helping us to achieve our most ambitious 5-year period ever!

You will provide inspirational leadership to deliver a step change in performance to secure delivery of a large scale and complex capital portfolio ranging in value from £400m - £600m. Whilst instilling industry best practise, you will utilise our specialist in house design and commercial teams, as well as our supply chain partners to effectively ensure our complex programmes are delivered within the required criteria. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will grow the businesses capacity and capability to help shape our longer-term strategy ensuring your teams are set up for success entering the next business planning period.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

Ideally you will have experience in an asset intensive industry, such as water, rail, highways, nuclear, utilities, telecoms or similar in a large engineering-focused matrix organisation. You will have a proven track record of successfully taking ownership and managing the end-to-end delivery of large, complex multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, and experience of working collaboratively with contract partners, internal and external stakeholders and a multi-disciplined team.

You will have a proven track record in developing and delivering through highly capable, high performing teams and a record of operating in an asset intensive industry where programme activity, innovation and process are key. You will have experience in developing talent, building high performing teams and fostering a performance driven culture. You will be able to work collaboratively with peers, utilising your relationships and experience to drive best in class performance. You will also have proven experience delivering strong financial and operational success in multi-faceted organisations.
