About Clarion Events

Clarion Events is a global leader in delivering world-class events, conferences, and exhibitions across multiple sectors, including defence and security. Our defence portfolio brings together senior government officials, military leaders, and industry experts to address critical challenges and showcase cutting-edge solutions. We are launching an exciting new series of defence-focused events, offering a unique opportunity to join a growing portfolio with significant career progression potential.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a driven and ambitious Delegate Sales Executive to join our defence conference and exhibition team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in delegate or sponsorship sales or someone eager to grow into a Sponsorship Sales Manager role. You will initially focus on delegate sales for a high-profile US-based defence event (requiring travel) and transition to leading sponsorship sales for a European event launch later in the year. This is a unique opportunity to build a career in a rapidly expanding portfolio, working closely with senior military, government, and defence industry personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delegate Sales: Drive registrations for a new US-based defence conference by targeting senior government, military, and industry professionals.
  • Lead Generation: Identify and engage prospective delegates through research, cold-calling, email campaigns, and networking.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with high-level stakeholders, ensuring a professional and consultative approach.
  • Sponsorship Sales Transition: Progress into sponsorship sales for a European event launch, developing skills in securing high-value sponsorship deals.
  • Sales Targets: Meet and exceed ambitious delegate sales targets, contributing to the overall success of the portfolio.
  • Event Support: Collaborate with the events team to ensure seamless delivery of delegate experiences at the US event and future European launches.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about defence industry trends, competitors, and key players to support sales strategies.
  • Travel: Attend the US event and other international events as required, representing Clarion Events professionally.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:

  • Experience in delegate sales; sponsorship sales; or a related B2B sales role within events, conferences or exhibitions is desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior military, industry and government personnel.
  • Strong commercial acumen; a proactive target-driven mindset; and driven to exceed challenging sales targets.
  • Consultative and professional approach to building client relationships with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to conduct research and generate leads effectively.
  • Organised and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Genuine interest in the defence, technology and security, with a desire to learn and grow within these sectors.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally for events in the US and Europe.
