Job Title: Assistant Project Manager - Degree Apprentice (Level 6)
Location: Old Oak Common, London
Division: Infrastructure - OLE
Reporting To: Project Lead

Purpose of the Role

As an Assistant Project Manager (Project Management Degree Level Apprenticeship), you will have the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary and multi-million-pound projects, or deliver parts of key contracts and their associated activities, from conception through to completion, delivering work that has real impact.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn and develop your skills both on and off the job, working towards your Level 6 Project Management Degree and Membership with the Association of Project Management.

What I will be Focused on during my Apprenticeship?

You will assist the Project Manager or Delivery Manager in successfully delivering projects or contracts. You will work with your team to understand project fundamentals, including budgets, cost management, and delivering on time while ensuring safety and quality. Spending time with experienced project managers will help you understand what successful project management looks like.

Communication skills are essential, and collaborating with your team and clients will be a key part of your role. You will have opportunities to grow your network and problem-solve. Resilience and adaptability are important qualities for this role.

Safety is a top priority. You will play a role in ensuring project safety for passengers, staff, and the public. We encourage you to share your ideas on safety improvements. We also focus on making a positive environmental impact, so creativity and innovation are valued.

Your apprenticeship will support your learning, experience, and future career growth in Project Management. You will be supported by your Line Manager, team, the Early Careers team, your apprenticeship provider, and a network of apprentices and graduates.

About You - Person Specification

  • You will have completed your A-Levels by July 2025
  • You will have or will complete your driving test by August 2025
  • You can collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • You possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • You are willing to work nights and weekends
  • You are interested in and motivated to join the Rail Industry and Colas Rail
  • You can work independently and proactively using your initiative
