Job Description:

School of Archaeology, 1 South Parks Road, Oxford

About the Role

Are you a recent graduate or someone looking to build a career in university administration? This newly created post at the School of Archaeology offers a fantastic entry point into the workings of a world-renowned academic institution. Based at the Institute of Archaeology in the centre of Oxford and next to the Ashmolean Museum, you’ll play a key role in supporting both the Degree Courses Team and the broader operations of the building.

From supporting teaching activity and events, setting up lectures and AV equipment, to welcoming visitors at reception and providing guidance around the degree programmes, this varied and dynamic role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience across multiple facets of academic administration.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and eager to learn. You may have some experience in administrative, customer-facing, or reception roles, and you're confident using Microsoft Office and managing your own workload. You will have excellent attention to detail, and be able to handle confidential information with professionalism.

You will also have a positive, solutions-focused approach and the judgment to know when to refer queries or issues to others. If you are keen to explore a future in higher education administration, we would love to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

This is a permanent, full-time position that offers excellent development potential within a friendly and supportive team where no two days are the same. You will gain insight into how a university department operates and play an active role in supporting students and academic programmes in one of the world’s leading institutions for archaeological research and teaching.
