LSU is AXA’s in-house legal department responsible for managing litigated claims for AXA and its policyholders. The role involves managing a portfolio of approximately 100 motor claims brought against AXA and/or its policyholders.

AXA promotes flexible working, allowing employees to balance home and office work. You will work at least 40% remotely, with the majority of your work from September 2025 at our Gloucester office, visiting clients or attending industry events. Flexible arrangements are available and can be discussed with Talent Acquisition.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Handling litigated claims against our Motor policyholders, defending proceedings to high standards.
  • Negotiating bent metal claims, minimizing indemnity spend and claim lifecycles.
  • Coordinating and preparing statements and briefing counsel.
  • Providing commercially focused legal advice.
  • Contributing to department knowledge sharing and training.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal procedures.

We may close this vacancy earlier than the listed deadline due to application volume. If interested, please apply promptly.

What you'll bring:
  • A law degree and/or litigation experience (desirable).
  • Good knowledge of the Road Traffic Act, Civil Procedure Rules, Hire/Credit Hire, and Court procedures.
  • Self-sufficiency and awareness of your competence boundaries.
  • Team orientation, mentoring, coaching, and supervising experience.
  • Strong communication skills for relationship building and influence.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple claims using IT case management systems.
  • Courage to challenge norms, share solutions, and conduct witness interviews.
  • Ability to handle complex, changing workloads under pressure while maintaining quality.

Applicants must be eligible and authorized to work in the UK. This role is classified under the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), requiring background screening every 4 years and annual declarations in interim years.

What we offer:

  • Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience
