A leading national firm seeks a junior litigator passionate about personal injury claims to handle a diverse caseload of defendant EL/PL matters. The position provides full support with systems in place to facilitate your growth in a hybrid working environment. Ideal for someone looking to make a significant impact in their legal career.
Right then – listen up, all you junior litigators with a passion for personal injury and a knack for handling EL/PL matters! I’ve got a cracking opportunity here for someone looking to make their mark in a proper, grown-up role at a top national firm, without the fuss and drama.
This role is all about variety and ownership. You’ll be running your own caseload of defendant EL/PL claims – mostly fast-track and mostly from a retail perspective – from the moment the litigation kicks off right through to trial. You’ll even get the odd pre-litigation case thrown in to keep things interesting. You’ll be the person advising clients on liability and quantum, working closely with a brilliant and supportive wider litigation team who actually care about your development (yes, they do exist).
They’ve got proper systems in place – great supervision, smooth case management tools – so you won’t be left floundering. You'll also be kept up to date with the latest case law and changes in legislation without having to spend your weekends buried in textbooks (support and training fully provided). And of course, you’ll be expected to stick to the usual risk management and compliance stuff – but hey, that’s just part of the gig.
Ideally, you’ll have up to 3 years’ experience running your own fast-track defendant claims. A background in EL/PL work is a real bonus – and if you’ve dealt with claims from the retail sector before, even better. You’ll need to be super-organised, a decent communicator (no hiding behind emails here), and someone who can hit deadlines without breaking a sweat. Attention to detail is key, and a bit of numeracy skill wouldn’t go amiss either (those schedules of loss won’t draft themselves).
This is a proper role for someone who likes to get stuck in, who enjoys variety, and who wants to work in a genuinely supportive environment where people like each other (imagine that). Hybrid working is on offer too – a couple of days in the office, the rest at home in your slippers.
