Job summary

Travail Employment Group is recruiting a Technical Author to support MOD projects in the Harrogate area. You will gather data on defence equipment, collaborate with OEMs and engineering teams, and translate complex information into clear operation manuals and training materials.

A full UK security clearance will be required. Ideal candidates have an engineering background and experience with military publication formats such as AESPs, BRs or APs, plus strong written communication and attention

Qualifications

• Proven ability to produce clear, user‑oriented technical publications.
• Experience translating complex technical data into manuals and training materials.
• Familiarity with MOD document formats and standards.

Responsibilities

• Visit military and defence customer sites to gather, interpret and collate technical data for MOD publications.
• Collaborate with OEMs and engineering teams to produce and update operation manuals, maintenance documentation, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, ILS elements, safety information and training media.
• Translate complex engineering information into clear, accurate and user‑friendly documentation for end‑users and maintainers.
• Ensure all publications meet MOD and company standards, delivering high‑quality outputs within agreed timelines.
• A full security clearance will be required.
