Job summary

Addition in Farnborough is seeking a Technical Author to produce and maintain high-quality documentation for defence and national security projects.

You will translate complex technical information into clear guides, procedures and training materials for engineers and non-technical stakeholders. This is a hybrid role with a focus on quality, security and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Background as a Technical Author or Writer in Defence or secure communications.
• Ability to interpret standards, specs and complex engineering data.
• Excellent written communication with high attention to detail.
• Experience with document management platforms (SharePoint/Confluence).

Responsibilities

• Produce, edit and maintain technical documentation to Defence and international standards.
• Create user guides, procedures, training materials and system documentation for diverse audiences.
• Interpret complex specifications and translate into clear, user-friendly docs.
• Ensure quality, consistency and compliance across the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to capture and communicate information.
• Manage document version control and support configuration management.
• Review and update existing documentation to stay current with standards.
• Contribute to design reviews with documentation expertise for system development.
• Ensure documentation meets security, classification and compliance requirements.
