Job summary

Expleo Group seeks a Safety Engineer to support the AJAX Combat Vehicle Programme within Defence and Land Systems. The role is hybrid, requiring regular attendance at MOD Abbey Wood (Bristol) and General Dynamics, Merthyr Tydfil.

You will develop and maintain safety documentation, lead risk assessments, and ensure compliance with safety standards across a multidisciplinary team. Applicants must hold an IEng or equivalent and be eligible to obtain SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Professionally registered as an IEng or equivalent.
• Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
• Desirable: Formal safety engineering qualification.
• Desirable: Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution.
• Desirable: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or progress towards chartership.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety engineering support to the AJAX Demonstration Pillar and ensure safety documentation is produced and maintained.
• Coordinate demonstration and trials safety activities across the programme.
• Review safety implications of design modifications and provide engineering recommendations.
• Keep records of safety assessments, concessions, approvals, and related documentation.
• Support development and implementation of safety procedures and best practices.
• Engage with engineering, project and delivery teams to resolve safety issues and ensure regulatory compliance.
