Job description

Join Defence Digital as a Finance Specialist Services Lead and play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence across our organisation. These positions offer the opportunity to provide strategic financial leadership whilst supporting our mission to collect taxes and pay benefits fairly and efficiently.

The role will be one of 3 roles within the Defence Digital HQ and Shared Services finance teams where you will undertake line management, mentoring and countersigning responsibilities, leading a team of finance professionals. You will be responsible for learning and development initiatives, ensuring continuous up-skilling within your area. Your expertise will enable finance to meet its objectives whilst supporting broader business goals through robust planning, forecasting and governance activities.

You will provide strategic financial support and analysis to teams, senior leaders and external stakeholders, whilst supporting the G6 lead through liaison with DD delivery teams and wider MOD colleagues. Building strong internal and external networks through effective stakeholder management will be essential to your success.

Responsibilities include (role dependent)

  • Undertake line management, mentoring and countersigning tasks with direct reports
  • Lead planning, forecasting and governance activities ensuring quality financial accounts
  • Provide strategic financial support and analysis to stakeholders
  • Support G6 lead and liaise with DD delivery teams and MOD colleagues
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder networks
  • Engage in continuous learning and development activities
Person specification

To be successful in the role of Finance Specialist Services Lead you will bring experience of the following

  • Driving organisational objectives through strong subject matter leadership, influencing effectively across all levels and between organisations.
  • Designing, building, and optimising financial systems, automate processes, and provide training on new tooling and ways of working.
  • Developing Management Information (MI) tools and designing impactful documents for a wide audience
  • Working across disciplines and organisational pillars, identifying opportunities for holistic improvements and delivering them.
  • Thriving in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to planning, forecasting, and governance.

Qualifications

  • It is desirable that you have:
    CCAB or Equivalent (CIMA) Professional qualification
