Job summary

TechShack in the United Kingdom is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build the data platform for a Defence programme, on-site with MOD, shaping how data drives operational decisions.

You will ingest, transform and govern data, using Snowflake and Databricks, with strong SQL and Python. The role offers a permanent contract, bonus, and healthcare benefits, with 2–3 days on-site in Blandford Forum.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering within a defence environment.
• Snowflake and Databricks are essential.
• Active SC or DV clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and build ETL frameworks to ingest, transform, validate and cleanse data.
• Manage data structures and build robust data models for analytics and reporting.
• Implement data quality controls and prepare datasets for visualisation.
• Work on-prem and in the cloud within secure environments.
• Gather and validate data requirements directly with the customer.
• Tune data workflows for speed, cost and reliability.
• Contribute to data engineering best practices and communicate findings to stakeholders.
