Job Description:

This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate your experience and knowledge of hardware, Ubuntu, and Open Source in general. Within this role, you will work with a dedicated set of enterprise customers adopting Ubuntu and Open Source on desktop. If you join, you'll be part of a team providing exceptional technical support and engineering solutions related to Ubuntu and other Open Source technologies.

This role is ideal for an open source enthusiast who enjoys solving problems under pressure.

  • Apply your knowledge of Linux desktop, applications, authentication, and security.
  • Demonstrate your understanding of TCP/IP and wired & wireless networking on Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server.
  • Act as the technical authority, leveraging your experience with popular open source software.
  • Provide advice on architecture deployment and implement solutions for complex problems.
  • Debug Ubuntu Desktop issues and contribute code to help resolve them.
  • Communicate regularly with the customer team about ongoing issues.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Professional support experience with Linux desktop environments (preferably Ubuntu or other Debian-based distros).
  • Familiarity with PC and/or laptop hardware as well as SBCs like Raspberry Pi.
  • Knowledge of Debian or Snap packaging.
  • Experience with GNOME, GTK, Python, or C.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, including Snaps, WSL, and others.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent communication skills and extensive customer-facing experience.
  • High motivation, ability to multitask, and reliability in following up on commitments.
