Job description
Overview

We are looking for a motivated person who is interested in helping to provide a safe, high quality Endoscopy Decontamination service to patients at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. You'll work closely with the team to provide the best care for our patients working under strict guidelines and protocols. Once training has been provided, staff will look to you for advice and expertise regarding decontamination and best practice. The job involves the manual cleaning and decontamination of flexible endoscopes before and after Endoscopy.

The Endoscopy Unit provides a service to both outpatients and in-patients undergoing Gastroscopy, EUS, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy EBUS and PEG insertion. The unit is currently open 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays. We will provide in house training and fully support your professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Perform manual cleaning and decontamination of flexible endoscopes before and after Endoscopy.
  • Become an expert in this area and take a lead role in the decontamination room, including managing equipment so scopes are ready for morning, afternoon and evening lists.
  • Send scopes away for service and repair as required.
  • Collaborate with the Endoscopy Unit team to ensure high quality, safe patient care and adherence to guidelines and protocols.
Qualifications and Skills
  • GCSE grades 9 - 4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English; ability to work to tight deadlines as the Endoscopy Unit is extremely busy with three procedure rooms running at full capacity.
  • Conscientious with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well within a team; excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience is desirable but not required; full training will be given.
