Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking an Estates Decontamination Engineer to deliver maintenance and installation services across decontamination plants and systems. The role requires cross-trade skills and adherence to safety and infection control standards to support high-quality patient care.

The post is Band 6 on Annex 21 with progression on certification; base location Inverclyde TSSU with travel across sites. A rotating 36-hour week applies, with shift patterns listed.

Qualifications

• Experience in Estates engineering services and decontamination equipment maintenance.
• Competence in minor building and cross-trade skills including electrical and mechanical services.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance programmes and reactive repair services.
• Awareness of healthcare environmental standards and HAI management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventive maintenance, repair, and installation services to agreed standards.
• Provide safe maintenance of decontamination plant, equipment and systems.
• Carry out installation, commissioning, and repair works on critical decontamination equipment.
• Adopt a flexible approach to service delivery using cross-trade skills.
• Support development of a customer-focused Estates service.
• Contribute to a safe, compliant healthcare environment.
• Assist in reactive maintenance to minimise disruption to clinical care.
• Support HAI management through compliance with standards and audits.
• Provide technical advice for clinical service developments and Estates projects.
• Assist with specifications, tender docs, and project planning.
