Job summary

Cyclife UK Ltd invites applications for a Decommissioning Operative role across Berkshire, Cumbria and Kent. Operatives work in radiation and contamination-controlled areas, following approved documentation and site permits to dismantle and package waste using proper tooling and PPE.

The role requires NVQ in nuclear decommissioning, CSCS and CCNSG (or equivalent) with nuclear sector experience desirable. Training and safety are prioritised.

Qualifications

• NVQ in nuclear decommissioning is essential.
• CSCS card is essential.
• CCNSG or equivalent is essential.

Responsibilities

• Receive instructions from Senior Engineer/Site Supervisor.
• Manufacture and install decommissioning aids.
• Ensure operations follow approved documentation and work permits.
• Use correct tooling, PPE and best practices to complete tasks.
• Demonstrate good housekeeping.
• Remove and size reduce redundant plant and equipment.
• Conduct hot spot removal and waste packaging.
• Transport radioactive and clear waste from controlled areas.

Role: Decommissioning Operative

Decommissioning activities working to approved documentation in radiation and contamination-controlled areas.

• Receive instructions from Senior Engineer/Site Supervisor;
• Manufacture and install decommissioning aids;
• Responsible for ensuring operations are in accordance with approved documentation and work permit;
• Utilisation of correct tooling, PPE and best practice to complete tasks;
• Demonstrating Good Housekeeping;
• Removal and size reduction of redundant plant and equipment;
• Hot spot removal activities and waste packaging;
• Transportation of radioactive and clear waste from controlled areas.

Training and Qualifications:

• NVQ in nuclear decommissioning - Essential
• Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) - Essential
• Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) or equivalent - Essential
• Nuclear / highly regulated industry experience - Desirable
