Job summary

Svitzer is seeking a Deckhand to join our UK Float Pool, stationed on our vessels across UK operations. You will be part of a tight-knit crew, supporting the Master and officers to ensure safe, efficient tug operations and vessel standards.

Expect hands-on work, two-week rotations, and active involvement in deck and engine-room tasks while maintaining a strong safety culture. We offer a permanent, time-for-time contract with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid ENG1 medical and STCW Basic Safety Training valid for six months or more.
• Full UK Driving Licence and legal right to work in the UK.
• Harbour or terminal towage experience preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a close-knit tug crew in busy, high-pressure environments.
• Support the Master and officers to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Own deck operations, safety routines and vessel standards.
• Carry out planned maintenance and keep the vessel clean and ready.
• Participate in both deck and engine-room tasks when required.
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development.
• Commit to teamwork and a professional attitude aboard.
